December 2023 Summarized
- Major arrivals were Syngentha 5531, Syngentha 2043, Byadgi/KDL and Sarpan 102. Arrival of Byadgi/KDL has been delayed by 1 month, it will start from January 1st week. Arrivals were mostly of Syngentha 5531 and Syngentha 2043.
- Compared with last year, arrivals are 20% less but compared with last year sowing was delayed by 20 days.
- December last week Byadgi / KDL price was 48,000 and Syngentha 5531 was 16,000. Prices from 1st week of December to last week saw a decrease of 20-25%.
- December month cold weather was good for crops. Hubli, Bellary, and Raichur area crops are performing well. After a gap of 3 years traditional Byadgi/KDL growing area of Hubli(Annigeri and Kundgol) is looking good.
- This year Karnataka is taking huge stock carry forward at cold storages of around 25-30 lakh bags against its capacity of 70 lakh bags.
- This year crop quality is very good due to no unseasonal rain.
- Reservoir status – water level is lower compared with last 4 years, but sufficient water is available for first picking, for further we need rainfal and cold weather.
